Courage to live your truth.
Every week I ask my Brave New Girls podcast guest how they define courage. This is how Milli Hill, author of Ultra-Processed Women, thinks of it:
“For me, courage is going with what you know to be right inside, but living that on the outside. That’s the point where you need courage- when you feel something in your heart, but you choose to speak it, live it, and put it out into the world.”
Milli knows this first-hand. Writing Ultra-Processed Women wasn’t just research- it was rebellion. She challenges a billion-dollar food industry and decades of social conditioning that tells women convenience is freedom. What if we’ve been hoodwinked? What if so much of our suffering, painful periods, anxiety, burnout, links back to what’s in our trolley?
Standing up to that narrative takes guts. Courage is the daily decisions to live in line with your truth- even when the world says, “Don’t rock the boat.”
How to Grow Courage in Everyday Life
Courage isn’t born in crisis. It’s built in the micro-moments: in what you eat, what you say, what you allow. Every small act of courage rewires your brain for the next.

Here are practical ways to embrace courage & support well beings on a well planet:
10 Actionable Steps:
Check in with your gut. Ask: “What feels right for me?” Then back it.
Speak up in low-risk spaces. Share an honest opinion today.
Set boundaries. “No” is a full sentence- and a powerful act of self-respect.
Choose health over hype. Swap that UPF snack for real food. Living your values = daily courage.
Have the hard talk. That conversation you’ve been avoiding? Start it.
Do one brave solo. A class, a coffee, a trip- own your independence.
Drop false apologies. Say “thank you” instead of “sorry.”
Share your truth. Post, journal, or speak. Your story matters.
Act before you feel ready. Courage grows through doing, not waiting.
Celebrate each win. Courage is a practice- acknowledge progress.
Courage is about living your inner truth out loud, one small act at a time.
