Courage to get up again.
Every week I ask my Brave New Girls podcast guest how they define courage. This is how Anshu Ahuja, co-founder of DabbaDrop, thinks of it:
“Courage ultimately is being nice to yourself as a human being. Allowing yourself to make mistakes. And get up again and try again.”
It’s not about shouting the loudest or being the boldest in the room. It’s about being kind to yourself when things go sideways. Giving yourself a break. Getting back up when you’d rather hide under a blanket. That’s what makes the difference.
Anshu came from a TV background. She had two young kids, zero startup experience, and no cash. But she had an idea.
Home-cooked, plant-based curries in reusable tins. No plastic. No waste. No faff.
She followed the quiet voice that said do it anyway.
Didn’t know how to build a website? YouTube tutorials while breastfeeding. Didn’t have a plan? Made one. Didn’t know if it would work? Tried it and found out.
Anshu didn’t play safe. She backed herself. Quietly, consistently, and with purpose. And now DabbaDrop is feeding hundreds of people across London, cutting waste, and shaking up takeaway culture with one tin of curry at a time.
She didn’t wait to feel fearless. She acted on her vision. That’s courage.
And we can all build that kind of courage. You don’t need to be fearless- you need to show up and keep moving. Even if it’s messy.
